Today William participated in the International Day Parade at school. They had an assembly and parade to commemorate and celebrate the many nationalities in the school. He represented his country England with a few other students. We called Grandad and Auntie Sally & Uncle Jon to get some ideas on what to wear to represent his country proudly. Unfortunately, we found that England does not particularly have a national costume. We are still trying to find out who John Bob(?) is, but according to Uncle Jon, he could definitely be an interesting choice though most Americans would have no idea who he is! Although, William did suggest that he be King or a Royal Guardsman. Given that we spoke with Grandad and Sally & Jon on Wednesday night, we really didn't have the option of bearskin hat making or appointing William as the future King of England. We did, however, remember that England invented football and decided then to proudly display our England Football kit for all to see. (Good choice Grandad, Auntie Sally & Uncle Jon...oh and Uncle Andy gave us some input too via instant message!)
Only William and another young chap (getting into the spirit of the event, I am) wore anything that remotely suggested that they were English.....and they used the Union Jack and not the St. George's Cross. Goodness! The other boy was wearing an argyle vest, long sleeve white dress shirt, capri type slacks and a cap. He had a bit of an English countryside look to him. There were six children in all from just William's class in the parade. Two of which are his good buddies, Ashley and Krystyna. Ashley represented the USA while Krystyna represented Poland. All in all there were 41 different countries represented in the parade. Pretty neat stuff. On a slightly humorous note, the weather was superbly English as it was misty, gray and a little on the chilly side. ;o)
After dinner tonight, we sat down to watch the Empire Strikes Back! William reminded me that it is Science Fiction so that means its fake. Whew! No need to worry about being scared then. The more time goes on, the more I realize that I am the only scaredy cat in this house! I need to work on that. I bet there are a lot of you reading this going.....FINALLY!!! ;o)
